Early Life, Career and Notable Appearances

Early Life, Career and Notable Appearances

Channing Tatum was born in Cullman, Alabama, as the son to an airline and a construction worker. From early on, he battled dyslexia and an attention deficit disorder, which made the prospect of school learning “particularly unenticing”.

Tatum claims that throughout his high school experience, girls were “always his biggest distraction”.

As a glorified member of the track, football, baseball and mixed martial arts teams in his school, Tatum easily earned the attention of the school’s ladies, to the point that his parents felt that his grades were suffering.

In order to rectify this “distraction” problem, Channing’s parents provided him with the choice to either attend a Military Training School or a prestigious Catholic School.

Tatum chose the latter, and while he graduated from Tampa Catholic High School with unimpressive grades, he was granted a football scholarship to attend Glenville State College in West Virginia.

Tatum was however notoriously uninterested by his studies and chose to drop out in his second year. Channing returned home to work odd jobs in construction and delivery at the age of 20.

Put off by the feeble pay and lack of work consistency, he chose a career in stripping under the name Chan Crawford, at the age of 21.

He later moved to move to Miami, where he was discovered by modeling talent scouts. Channing Tatum’s career in entertainment began when he was cast to dance in Ricky Martin’s video “She Bangs”, for which he was paid a measly $400.

Two years after his move, however, he decided to focus on Television Commercials to try his hand at acting. In 2002, Tatum appeared in commercials for Pepsi and Mountain Dew.

After signing for page 305 later that year, Tatum was featured in Vogue Magazine and consequently appeared in Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, American Outfitters and Nautica marketing campaigns.

He was voted one of Tear Sheet Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful Faces” in the fall of 2002. But despite his lucrative modeling ventures, Channing was possessed with the desire to act.

In 2006, Tatum was cast opposite Amanda Bynes in “She’s The Man”, which Business Insider deemed “The Greatest Shakespearean Remake”. The next year, he was cast as the male lead in the teen blockbuster movie “Step Up”.

He met his current Wife, Jenna Dewan, on set while filming the movie. In 2008, Tatum starred in Kimberly Pierce’s stop-loss, which earned rave reviews from cinema critics. Later that year, he starred in Stuart Townsend’s Battle In Seattle.

A couple years later, Tatum was cast to play Pretty Boy Floyd in Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. While the role was relatively small, the movie was a huge success both in the Box Office and among critics.

In 2009, Tatum saw his biggest box office success to date, starring as Duke in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.

It was kind of weird” Tatum recalls about the experience.

“The fans loved it, but we were being slated in the mags”.

The movie was a huge financial success but was depicted as “one of the worst movies of the year” by avid cinema critics. In 2012, Tatum reprised his role as Duke in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Later that year, he starred as a soldier in Dear John, but voiced discomfort over the movie’s “glorification of war”. He also took part in 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike a few months later.

While Tatum produced the latter, he voiced never wanting to act in a movie he had produced again. In 2015, he starred in the 21 Jump Street sequel, 22 Jump Street and has hosted Saturday Night Live and Lip Sync Battle a few times since.

Channing Tatum’s achievement in the past couple of years have involved creating his own foundation and returning to acting school.

Channing Tatum’s Beard Style

Channing Tatum's Beard Style

In the past couple of years, Channing Tatum has been seen sporting a medium length goatee that adds to his leading man flair. The goatee, usually kept relatively clean-trimmed, has the effect of sharpening Channing’s boyish features without hardening his face.

The shape is among the best goatee styles for men looking to gain in sophistication. This style is flattering to most facial structures but is particularly striking on round and oval faces.

The goatee can be used to add prominence to an otherwise weak chin or jaw, and when Channing lets his beard flourish into a full-fledged chinstrap, he ensures the natural chisel of his features is displayed to its absolute advantage.

While achieving such a beard will require the use of the best beard grooming kits and the best beard butters, the style remains accessible even to those on a limited budget.

Growing and Maintaining Channing Tatum’s Beard

Growing Channing Tatum’s goatee will require a couple weeks of growth. Slow growers may require a full month to attain the desirable beard length.

Beardoholics wishing to achieve this style will then need to, using a beard trimming guide, shape their beard into a slim square around the mouth. It is advised to only use the best beard trimmers, a mark of which will be their Stainless Steel and precise cutting.

Should you have difficulty attaining the shape you seek, you may want to use a beard stencil for goatee. Using shaving cream warmer may also facilitate the shaving process and leave the skin smooth and bump-free.

Once you have cut your beard into a proper Channing Tatum goatee, you will want to use a beard brush or comb to keep the strands tamed and avoid uncomfortable knotting.

A beard dyeing guide is also available on our site for those wishing to achieve the dark chestnut coloring of Tatum’s beard.
